Dishwasher Care: Home Remedies
A dishwasher is a great helper in the kitchen, it allows you to save a lot of time and enjoy perfectly clean dishes. However, over time, glass objects can tarnish, and a white coating will appear on their edges. This may mean that we are not taking care of the dishwasher properly. We advise how to clean this appliance so that a pleasant smell emanates from it and the dishes do not lose their shine. It is enough to regularly use a few simple methods to keep the dishwasher working properly for many years.
Filter cleaning
There are filters at the bottom of the dishwasher that are easy to remove. They often accumulate food residues such as fruit pits and limescale. To get rid of them, just dip the filters (preferably disassembled) for 15 minutes in a basin of water and dishwashing liquid. Residues can be cleaned with a toothbrush. If the filters have a lot of limescale on them, put them in a bowl of vinegar for a few hours. Filters should be washed once a week or two, depending on how often we use the dishwasher and how dirty the dishes are placed in it.
Removing dirt from seals and doors
Grease and lime deposits accumulate on the seals. They are easy to get rid of with vinegar. It is enough to clean them with a toothbrush dipped in vinegar. You should also regularly clean the dishwasher door and its panel - wipe it with a damp cloth and a small amount of detergent.
Washing the dishwasher
We also have to wash the entire dishwasher once a month or two. Then do not put dishes in it, but pour a glass of vinegar on the bottom of the appliance. Set the dishwasher to the highest temperature. If the dishwasher is clean but still smells bad, pour a glass of baking soda into the bottom of the dishwasher and set the wash cycle to the highest setting.A good way to get a nice and fresh scent is to add citric acid with every wash - just add 2 teaspoons to the pill container.
Shiny dish method
Hard water causes milky deposits to form on glassware. To get rid of it, just put all the tangled and covered dishes in the dishwasher, pour 2-3 teaspoons of citric acid into the tablet container and turn on the long wash mode. For even more effect, you can put a few thicker slices of pitted lemon on the shelf between the glasses. Glass vessels will become sparkling and fragrant. Vinegar can be used in the same way.All you have to do is pour a glass of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher filled with dishes.
