Knitwear differs from ordinary fabric in extraordinary elasticity, but the secret here is not in the addition of elastane or other synthetic inclusions. The fact is that knitwear is not woven, but knitted. Soft air loops intertwine, connect, forming an elastic material that is used to create any kind of clothing. The main trump card of knitwear is its ability to fit the body, stretching in the right places, while maintaining its own shape.
Like any other fabric, children's knitwear can be of very different quality, which depends on the length of the fiber. The longer it is, the better and more durable the product.
The composition can also be very different - from natural fibers, to synthetic and artificial. Most often you can find a mixed composition of knitwear.
Naturalness comes first
When choosing children's clothing in a store, the eye often stumbles upon incomprehensible names of the knitted fabric that underlies the product. On the modern market you can find the following fabrics:
- Cooler. The lightest and most breathable fabric, ideal for underwear, children's and summer wear. The kulirka is extensible only along the longitudinal thread. Composition - cotton and a small percentage of lycra.
- Ribana. Fabric with a slight impregnation of lycra, pleasant to the touch. Excellent hygienic qualities. It is applied in tailoring of the top jersey.
- Interlock. Smooth fabric on both sides. It has a low percentage of extensibility and a higher density compared to previous fabrics. It is used in the tailoring of sports suits, T-shirts, home clothes.
- Footer. Warm fabric with brushed natural cotton.Clothes for newborns, sportswear, clothes for the home are sewn from it. The only downside to this fabric is that it shrinks a lot after washing.
And some more knitwear
These fabrics are less natural, however, they are an excellent material for creating very beautiful models:
- Jersey. Almost does not wrinkle and stretches perfectly. The composition can be both natural and synthetic.
- Piqué. On closer inspection, it resembles a honeycomb. The composition may have cotton, silk, viscose.
- Celanic. Mix of cotton and synthetics. Smooth on the face and flannelette on the inside, it fits perfectly and keeps you warm.
- Lacoste. Lightweight breathable fabric. The composition may vary.
- Angora. Wool with synthetics. Despite this, very nice soft fabric.
Whatever knitwear you choose, always follow the rules for caring for the product. And let your favorite knitwear last for many years!
