The whole truth about the ultrasonic washing machine

Ultrasonic washing machines Cinderella, Volcano and Reton literally flooded the Russian market. Manufacturers position their products as unique, and advertising claims that you simply cannot find the best washing machine. As for the real efficiency of these washing machines, it can be called into question.

For to get up-to-date information on the efficiency of ultrasonic washing machines, we decided to conduct a small experiment. His task was to repeat washing in the conditions in which washing takes place in commercials - marketers say that the machine just needs to be put in water and plugged into the network. Let's see if this is true, shall we?

Working principle of ultrasonic washing machine

Working principle of ultrasonic washing machine
Considering the principle of operation of an ultrasonic washing machine, one should remember what ultrasound is. It is a sound wave with a frequency of more than 20 kHz. That is, the human ear no longer hears this spectrum. Ultrasound has found a wide scope of application in various fields, from medicine to heavy industry.

Ultrasound has one unusual feature - it is able to penetrate many media and destroy some materials.The first property is used by ultrasound machines and flaw detectors in factories and on railways. The second property is used for processing various surfaces. For example, ultrasound helps to clean the nozzles of the print heads on inkjet cartridges, clean various objects from rust - this technique gives excellent results.

These properties were the basis of ultrasonic washing machines Reton, Cinderella, Volcano and many others. Even the newest models, supposedly of a new generation, have not changed their principle of operation.. The very principle of operation is that ultrasonic waves with a frequency of about 100 kHz penetrate deep into the tissues and contribute to the removal of contaminants by the principle of ultrasonic baths for cleaning those cartridges.

How do marketers position ultrasonic washing machines? As a universal device that allows you to cope with any pollution without the slightest effort. Is this really the case - our experiment will tell.

We conduct an experiment on washing with an ultrasonic machine

We conduct an experiment on washing with an ultrasonic machine
So, for our experiment we need:

  • Two basins with clean water;
  • One ultrasonic washing machine;
  • Dirty things - preferably with several types of pollution;
  • Good washing powder.

For the purity of the experiment, we took two pieces of cotton fabric and applied the most common pollution to them - this is ordinary dirt from the street, a little sunflower oil and fruit juice. Both cuts went into basins with warm (+50 degrees) water. We added a dose of washing powder to both basins, after which we placed an ultrasonic washing machine in one of them.

Start washing

As the advertisement says, we will soon see the effect - let the machine wash, and at this time you do useful things. What is happening in the basin with the washing machine at this time? Ultrasound, acting on tissues, should gradually wash away the remnants of contaminants. As we remember, in industrial ultrasonic baths everything is washed out very well. As for underwear, the results are ahead.

By the way, in the process of conducting the experiment, we in no case touch our basins – no stirring of water, no effect on tissues. After all, everything should happen exactly as advertising in our media says about it.

Washing completed

Our washing machine worked tirelessly for an hour. After that, we took our pieces of fabric out of the water and began to examine them.It became immediately clear that the oil stains did not disappear anywhere from either one or the second cut. But where ultrasound worked, the spot is still smaller. The same thing happened with fruit stains - they have not gone away.
And what happened to the most ordinary dirt? It would seem that it is washed out quite well - it is enough just to wash the soiled linen properly. But it was not there - the stains remained on both pieces of fabric. But on the piece that the ultrasonic washing machine worked on, the stain is somewhat smaller.

Experiment results

What results can we make after the experiment? First you need to recognize that you can’t blindly believe advertising. Her task is to sell certain goods, and she performs this task with a bang. In practice, the results are completely different.

The ultrasonic washing machine we tested in our experiment showed extremely low efficiency.No matter what the advertisement says, there is practically no effect from it. It has some effect on pollution, but cannot completely remove them.. But if we had any effect on the tissue cuts, for example, periodically mixed it in our pelvis, then we would be able to achieve more visible results.

By the way, a similar effect could be achieved without an ultrasonic washing machine - this is eloquently evidenced by a piece of fabric that was washed without ultrasound. That is, this machine is effective only with the lightest soiling, and only if we additionally mix the laundry in the basin.

Also, do not forget that after washing things need to be rinsed. If we start washing a thick warm blanket, then we will have to put a lot of effort into rinsing and spinning, since a wet blanket will be very heavy.

Final conclusions

What conclusion can we draw after the end of our experiment? An ultrasonic washing machine is only effective in the country, and even then, if you put extra effort into washing.So is it worth counting on mythical efficiency if an automatic machine can cope with such pollution in just 30-40 minutes in a quick wash mode. And things with difficult stains can be pre-soaked - this will help the machine to cope with its task faster. If you decide to purchase a washing machine, we advise you to study the reviews of the owners of washing machines from different companies, for example, Atlant washing machine reviews.

The impact of the machine on health

The impact of the machine on health
Ultrasound can have a serious impact on human health. No wonder even ultrasound is not recommended to be done too often.As for ultrasonic washing machines, no one has proven harm from them - in fact, sound waves propagate only within the basin with water. But it's not worth it to constantly wash this machine. Also do not put your hands in the basin where the included washing machine is located. And it is best to get rid of it due to its extremely low efficiency.

Oleg Vavilov

I bought a Reton washing machine after watching commercials repeatedly. I know the properties of ultrasound well, so I thought that here it would show its effectiveness. But it was not there - I did not see practically any effect. I do not deny that it is able to remove invisible dirt and simply refresh the laundry. But it will not cope with the removal of clearly visible dirt - it is best to wash it by hand by buying a good washing powder in a hardware store.

Elena Arsenieva

And I really like this machine. It is very small, you can take it with you to the country, so that you can quickly wash dirty things. I put it in a basin or in a bucket of warm water, sprinkle washing powder. After 30-40 minutes, I turn off the machine and arrange a light hand wash, rinse well under clean water - and all small spots disappear. And I don’t even want to drag a semi-automatic machine with a centrifuge to the dacha, it will take up too much space, and it eats much more electricity.

Sergei Bondarev

All these Retones and Cinderellas are pure scam. Throw laundry into hot water, throw a good powder there and wash it well with your hands for 10 minutes - the effect will be even better than from this machine. It is better to spend this money on a normal washing powder, rather than shaking over every penny for electricity.I do not understand those people who consider it effective. There is only 10 watts of power, it simply cannot physically wash anything!

Comments

The idea of washing with ultrasound is quite reasonable, but ... The main problem is the power of the piezoelectric element. In baths for washing electronics and jewelry for "buildup" 200-500 ml. washing solution is given up to 10 watts. The same power (at best) is given out by USM. But for a few liters! Moreover, attenuation in a viscous medium, such as fabrics, is many times greater compared to boards, rings and chains.
Is it possible to make an effective USM? Of course! The trouble is that a piezoelectric element or a core for a magnetostrictor of sufficient power (hundreds of watts) costs more than a dozen Reton type machines.

In this century, there was an attempt to break the system and offer a ready-made eco-friendly product in Europe at the exhibition. The H2O washing machine of the Chinese company Haier. Guess why it was banned?! Because she did not consume ANY chemicals.
