Compact dishwashers

Owners of small kitchens need compact dishwashers. And given that large kitchens in domestic houses and apartments are less common than we would like, compact models are in great demand. What are such dishwashers and do they really take up so little space? We will talk about this in our review on compact dishwashers.

Compact dishwashers are household appliances designed for owners of small kitchens. Agree, it’s not so easy to find a place to install a dishwasher in a small kitchen, where, in addition to appliances, you need to fit a table with chairs, a refrigerator and a kitchen set. Also, there should be a place for cabinets with plates, cups, pots, pans, small appliances and much more. What to do?

Compact dishwashers come to our aid, which are characterized by small dimensions. It is this technique that is needed for small-sized kitchens. Let's see what are the advantages and disadvantages of compact dishwashers, what they are, how they differ from their full-size counterparts. Finally, let's look at three most popular dishwasher models.

Advantages and disadvantages of compact dishwashers

Plus and minus

We have already become accustomed to automatic washing machines that have settled in literally every home. Some have them in the bathroom, some have them in the hallway or hallway, and some have them right in the kitchen. As for dishwashers, they are relatively rare. And there are several main reasons for this:

  • lack of assortment in traditional stores;
  • lack of space for such equipment;
  • no need for dishwashers.

Going into a home appliances store, we will see anything in the top positions, but not dishwashers. If you look at commercials on TV channels, they often advertise washing machines than dishwashers. And we also do not provide a place for them - when planning a future house or apartment, we allocate space for a "washer" and a refrigerator, but we do not leave a place for dishwashers. Somehow they have not yet taken root in our apartments or houses.

The banal lack of space for such equipment also affects. A good roomy dishwasher 60 cm wide will not fit into every set. As for compact narrow dishwashers, they are more likely to take root in our home, since the small width of 45 cm still allows you to find a place for installation. What is generally remarkable about narrow dishwashers? Let's look at the list of positive features:

  • small size - narrow 45 cm wide dishwashers and ultra-compact desktop models take up much less space than full-fledged 60 cm wide dishwashers. However, for narrow models the concept of "compactness" is still relative;
  • excellent functionality - oddly enough, but even the smallest dishwashers have the same functionality as their younger counterparts. Nothing has been removed here, except for free space in the chamber for loading dishes;
  • saving space in the kitchen - even if there is a lot of space in it, you can save a little, for example, for installing a washing machine;
  • the opportunity to save some money - it cannot be said that a compact dishwasher is significantly cheaper than a full-sized counterpart, but there are still differences in price.

The capacity of compact dishwashers is up to 6-8 sets of dishes, narrow dishwashers - 12-14 sets. In addition to the advantages, compact dishwashers have certain disadvantages:

  • small dishwasher accommodates a small amount of dishes - the internal volume here is somewhat less than in large-sized dishwashers;
  • it is difficult to wash large-sized dishes (pots, cups, bowls, etc.) - large items take away a place that could be used to wash the same plates and tea mugs;
  • it is more difficult to arrange dishes - probably, many are familiar with the once popular Tetris game. So, trying to put a pile of assorted dishes into a narrow or compact (tabletop) dishwasher is somewhat reminiscent of a round in this game - you have to think a lot to fit everything you need there.

Despite some disadvantages, compact dishwashers are in great demand.

Compact dishwashers have another important advantage - they are ideal for hardened, lonely living bachelors who are terribly disliked washing dishes and do not leave behind mountains of dirty plates, forks, mugs and spoons.

Types of compact dishwashers

Types of compact dishwashers

There are several types of compact dishwashers. They can be built-in and freestanding. What is the difference between the first and the second?

Built-in dishwashers

Built-in compact dishwasher Designed for installation in a kitchen set. Outwardly, it looks like a device from which the case was completely removed. No special beauty is required from such machines, since they will be built into kitchen furniture. Outside, only the hinged door of the dishwasher will be visible, which is masked by part of the headset. Thus, if you do not know that there is a dishwasher in the kitchen, then it is almost impossible to guess about its presence.

Compact built-in dishwashers are models with a width of 45 cm, focused on kitchen sets with a door width of 45 cm, just for built-in appliances. Their capacity is 12 (rarely 14) sets of dishes. There are a lot of these cars for sale. An excellent choice for a family of 4-5 people.

There is also a small class of compact built-in dishwashers, similar to desktop compact dishwashers up to 60 cm wide. In addition to them, there are partially built-in devices.

Freestanding dishwashers

Freestanding dishwashers can be compact or narrow (45 cm) - depending on what you mean by compact. They are made in the form of independently household appliances and are focused on floor or desktop installation. In terms of their capacity, they are not much different from built-in appliances. Due to their small size, they do not take up free space in the kitchen, which some consumers like.

This class includes small dishwashers with partial embedding or with the possibility of embedding - a kind of universal apparatus.
